Rope care instructions 

Our shibari rope has been imported from Japan, where it is purpose made for shibari practitioners. The diameter, lay of the rope and composition of the natural jute fibres are designed specifically for use in shibari practice, which makes it significantly superior to most bondage rope available in North America. It is manufactured WITHOUT the use of JBO, which is a common rope manufacturing lubricant known to cause a variety of skin conditions and is a suspected carcinogenic.

When it arrives in Canada, we cut the ropes to length and finish the ends with our signature thistle knot, which allows the ends of the rope to flow smoothly as you tie, while remaining secure throughout frequent use. We then painstakingly treat the rope in a series of steps involving mechanically removing the excess fibres, waxing and sealing the rope, burning excess fibres, oiling the rope and finally working in the rope. This labour of love ensures that your shibari rope is soft, flexible and ready for use as soon as it arrives in your hands.
